Xiaomi is reportedly developing its next flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 16, which is expected to launch by the end of 2025. According to well-known Weibo ‘leakster’ Smart Pikachu, Xiaomi is reportedly planning to equip its upcoming Xiaomi 16 with a substantial 7,000mAh battery, a significant increase from the Xiaomi 15’s 5,400mAh capacity. This enhancement is anticipated to be facilitated by high-density silicon-carbon battery technology, allowing for larger capacities without significantly increasing the device’s size.
The Xiaomi 16 is also rumored to be powered by Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset or MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500, both expected to offer improved performance and energy efficiency. This combination could result in extended battery life and enhanced overall device performance.
However, the inclusion of a 7,000mAh battery may lead to a larger form factor compared to the Xiaomi 15, which featured a compact 6.36-inch display. This trend aligns with other manufacturers, such as OnePlus, which is reportedly preparing to launch the OnePlus 13T—a compact flagship with a 6.3-inch display and a 6,200mAh battery. This development indicates that larger batteries are becoming more common in compact smartphone designs.
It’s important to note that these details are based on leaks and should be considered speculative until official announcements are made. If accurate, the Xiaomi 16 could set a new standard for battery life in flagship smartphones.
